In these challenging times, bereaved families are facing the reality of having to bid farewell to their loved ones in a very different way. There are no packed chapels, no hugs of comfort and no wakes or receptions filled with family and friends reminiscing over happy times. But I, along with all celebrants, ministers, funeral directors and crematorium staff, am working hard to ensure that lost loved ones still have the heartfelt and unique send-offs they so deserve. We will continue to offer funerals for as long as we are allowed to do so, but I'm determined to support families in any way I can and will be offering full-length, personalised video eulogies, in addition to my usual services. I hope that these video tributes, which can be shared with family and friends electronically, will be of comfort to those who have decided not to hold a funeral service at this time and may prove invaluable should unattended funerals sadly become a reality in this country at some point.
